eBay is making changes to the site, and by placing cookies on your
computer will remember and automatically fill in information on eBay
1. When you log into eBay, the last User ID entered from your computer
(not the password) will show up automatically where required. The
pre-filled User ID can be changed for members who share a computer.
If you change the pre-filled User ID, the last one used will filled
in the next time you log on.
2. When you sell an item, options you selected the last time you
listed an item will be auto filled, specifically whether you ship
internationally, the number of days you want your auction to run
and the region you selected. You can change those options if desired.
Don't forget to participate in the eBay WATCH feature survey.

It appears that eBay has once again attempted to change the user
agreement without the required notice to users, by adding this
NOTE to the included by reference Fees page
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/selling-fees.html
QUOTE There's no charge to browse, bid on or buy items at eBay.
But you do pay fees to list and sell items. Read on to learn about
Insertion Fees, Final Value Fees, credit requests and
relisting for items. For eBay's payment terms, click here.
Note - Fees pay for the right to sell an item(s) on eBay. You do not
purchase any exclusive rights to a Web page on eBay. eBay may, in
our sole discretion, and without your consent or payment to you,
place third party advertisements on any Web page within our site.
ENDQUOTE
Contrast this with a message we received last night from eBay
support, about third party advertising on seller listing pages.
QUOTE I believe that you can count on us not to include third
party advertisements on the individual item pages. We do have many
partners in this new eBay Motors site, but all of their logos, etc,
are included only on the main pages of the site. ENDQUOTE
A review of the eBay Motors site shows third party adds appear in
Cars, Luxury Cars, Sports Cars, SUVs, Trucks, Minivans & Vans,
but not in the other eBay Motors categories. So far we haven't seen
third party ads elsewhere on sellers pages, the eBay site. We have
written to eBay again for further clarification and comment.

Amazon Auctions In a concise analysis of exactly why Amazon is
no longer working for sellers, we quote an Amazon user Watafind
from a post on the Amazon chat board
1. Bidders are leery of features because they believe they are not
getting the "Deal". These Amazon buyer folks are not stupid, they
know someone is paying for features. I suspect some folks skip
right over a lot of features for this reason. As a buyer, I would
skip over features for that reason.
2. Items with bids; however, are another story. BUT...By segregating
bids ahead of other items, Amazon is removing the final higher bidding
that used to take place because folks are not first looking at the
time line and urgency of the item going off.
3. Back to featured items - Featuring items actually detract bidders
from looking at the closing date, even if the closing date is soon.
Folks see Featured and not closing time.
4. Most folks bid because they "Find" the treasure in the stack
going off. Some believe, and I know this for a fact, that there
was no one else on-line at that site at that time when they
happened in so they Bid and won a "Find". ENDQUOTE
We hope Amazon is reading their own boards.
Amazon has also eliminated 1 day auctions, further restricting
seller options. Options are now from 2 to 14 days.

AuctionTalk.Com We heard from these folks today, and it turns out
the site is still in Beta, and will be officially opened next week.
The posts by the owners were for testing the workability of the
boards. They are hoping to have all the glitches worked out prior
to the official opening of the site.
Some of the different features they are offering
1. Live Auction Search, if there are items you are interested in,
you can search for scheduled analog auctions you can attend.
You can also place absentee and/or telephone bids, and also
send inquiries via email.
2. Image Hosting that includes utilities so users can crop and
rotate your photos before uploading. Once uploaded, PictureWork's
technology enhances the photo, reduces the size and load time of the
image.
3. LiveChat for those who prefer that format to the posted thread
format.
4.CyberOffice a service for AT users that gives a private chat room
linked directly from their auction item pages. A potential bidder can
join the seller in a private chat. This is similar to the service
offered by Yahoo.
5. Feature Stories with content from several of the industries
leading auction publications, as well as receiving expert articles
from leading OAI sellers.
